Autobody Technician

Job purpose

 

This Technician will perform minor and major autobody repairs with minimal supervision to ensure proper performance and safety of company vehicles. Must have a full understanding of how to properly maintain commercial motor vehicles according to DOT regulations and is crucial to the safe and productive operation of the company fleet.

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Evaluate designs and specs
  • Performs painting and grinding
  • Assist or perform rebuilds, replacements, or repairs of autobody components and damaged parts.
  • Customize autobody parts to specification.
  • Perform minor welding
  • Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to company safety procedures, and follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with company and OSHA Standards, ensuring shop equipment and tools are in safe operating condition
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

 

Education and Experience

·      Knowledge of all tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles

·      Ability to follow schedules, instructions, technical manuals and maintenance guidelines, and other procedures associated with the maintenance of the company fleet

·      Ability to judge the distance between equipment and an object

·      Ability to repeatedly adjust the control and placement of equipment to exact position

·      Ability to recognize unacceptable waste (such as gasoline or other flammable materials)

·      Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and other state and federal regulations

·      Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers

·      Strong work ethic, demonstrating integrity and trust

·      Ability to prioritize workload and meet time sensitive deadlines

·      Ability to be a self-starter capable of working effectively in a team environment or as an individual contributor

·      Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

·      Ability to make simple and repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists

·      Knowledge of proper lifting techniques

·      Ability to follow all company safety policies and procedures


Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years of heavy diesel truck autobody experience
  • Valid state issued driver’s license
  • Must have own tools appropriate for position, specialty tools supplied by the company
  • CDL Preferred but not required

 

 

Working conditions

 

Working conditions at J&L Contracting, LLC include working in outdoor and shop elements. Some positions may include enduring hot weather, standing for extended periods of time on concrete flooring, dirt and lifting heavy objects to waist height and/or above the head.

 

Hire may be required to endure the elements. This could include being out in foul weather.

 

 

Physical requirements

 

Lift and carry up to 100 pounds up to 30% of the time. When needed wear PPE, maintain a steady pace which may require lifting objects above and/or below the waist.

$22-$27+/hour depending on experience

About the Job:

Job Purpose:

This position hauls construction equipment and provides excellent service to our clients.

Duty and Responsibilities:

  • Be punctual when arriving to work and returning from breaks or lunch
  • Operate and drive construction equipment to jobsite and load and unload
  • Securing the load with proper amount of securement
  • Unhooking & hooking to trailers throughout the day
  • Present a positive and professional appearance and attired to clients.
  • Required to do pre and post trip inspections on truck and trailer
  • Responsible for ordering permits for load
  • Dealing with customs
  • Making sure Company policies and procedures are being followed
  • Work in a steady & safe pace
  • Any other duties set forth by the Company

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in trucking, heavy hauling, and Construction
  • Prefer 5+ years in trucking and construction experience
  • Valid Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations
